Maple Holistics: Tea Tree Oil Shampoo That Could Be Your Solution

November 1, 2017

Having curly hair is the bomb! All I need to do to get ready in the morning is sleep in braids the night before, apply just a tiny bit of water and coconut oil on it, take out the braids, fluff it up a bit, and boom! My hair is ready to tackle whatever bird decides to nest in there today!

But, although having curly hair is so thrilling and has it many perks, truthfully it can sometimes be a struggle. With my hair, in particular, it can either get too dry, too oily, too stiff, and my scalp gets annoyingly itchy with all the product buildup from the past couple of days. The only way I could repair that is by deep conditioning, applying some coconut oil, and scrubbing my scalp with my moisturizing shampoo that doesn’t do much for the itchiness. So, my everyday hair struggle is the dryness, stiffness, and itchiness. Argh!

One day the Hair Gods granted me something marvelous! I got an email a month back from Hayley from Maple Holistics who introduced me to a Natural Tea Tree Oil Shampoo that’s filled with all natural ingredients, sulfate free, and cruelty-free. So, think of Lush but more colorful and cheaper!

So, I got the shampoo delivered to me to try out; thanks, Hayley by the way for getting it shipped all the way to Bahrain! Here’s my whole breakdown:

PRO’s

Application

In the beginning, while applying it, a little went a long way. But as I continued to use it, I began to use a little bit more of the product since the coin size dollop was soaked up by my hair the moment it was applied. It could be the lack of moisture in my hair at the time that soaked up the product. So, depending on the thickness of your hair, a little bit of product could reach your whole scalp without your hair soaking it up. So, if you have straight silky hair, a dollop will definitely go a long way!

It’s a pro for me because even though it’s been about a month, I’m not even halfway through the bottle!

Note: Right after you apply the shampoo on your scalp, make sure to leave in there for a few minutes before you wash it off. This way the effect will be more prominent.

Aroma

I love tea tree oil. It’s done wonders for my face and skin, so, it’s no doubt that I wouldn't like this product. The moment you rub it between your hands and apply it onto your hair, the aroma fills up your shower, and if you’re like me, I would let the aroma fill the bathroom and relax for a bit before another tiresome day.

Maintains

It does what the bottle says, it clears up dead skin and scalp blemishes, and maintains that for a while. During the first week, I barely even scratched my scalp, and I was so relieved that I didn’t have to worry about random flakes sticking out of my hair every time I scratch as it can be so troublesome for curly hair. So this product saved me a bit regarding my product buildup and helped me prologue the number of days my hair can last without washing. It does clear it all out if applied and rinsed properly.

This is day one hair, a bit frizzy but still clean and soft. Yay!

CON’s

Dryness

As much as it rejuvenates my scalp, it dries up my locks. A good counterbalance to this one for me is my Honey-based conditioner Herbal Essence. It’s so strong that it moisturizes my hair enough to recover and bring back some of the oils that were stripped down during shampooing.

Consistency

Since I have curly hair, (curly twirly if you want to be specific) I’m not really supposed to be washing my hair especially shampooing my hair every day. But, although it strips my scalp from the itchiness for the day, that tingling comes back a bit a day later. And I suspect that I would need to shampoo my hair every day for it to fully go away. But, of course, I can’t because since the shampoo dries it, it would dry it twice as much if I were to wash my locks every day. So the usage of this product would need to be consistent.

Conclusion

I planned to use this product for about a month to get its full effects and so far, this Tea Tree Oil Shampoo from Maple Holistics is pretty good and sufficient. Although this shampoo isn’t technically meant for curly hair, it’s got a therapeutic aroma to it, rejuvenates and cleans out the product buildup and whatever flakes I have from my scalp, and it’s natural and cruelty-free, which I'm all in for! I’m going to keep on using this shampoo, and I’m looking forward to trying out the rest of Maple Holistics products once it’s done!

If you’re looking into something to help with your itchiness, scalp blemishes, or want your scalp thank you, give this shampoo a try, maybe it could be the one!
