Third Grave Dead Ahead by Darynda Jones
Series: Charley Davidson Book 3
Genre:
Paranormal, Adult, Mystery, Humor
SynopsisParanormal private eye. Grim reaper extraordinaire. Whatever. Charley Davidson is back! And she's drinking copious amounts of caffeine to stay awake because every time she closes her eyes she sees him: Reyes Farrow, the part-human, part-supermodel son of Satan.
Granted she did imprison Reyes for all eternity, but how is she supposed to solve a missing-persons case, deal with an ego-driven doctor, calm her curmudgeonly dad, and take on a motorcycle gang hell-bent on murder when the devil's son just won't give up on his plan of seduction..... and revenge?

Review

I enjoyed the first two books of the series and the third has been on my shelf for a while, so I thought it was about time I bring it down and give it back to my sister, but first, I must read it. Now when I say read, I mean listen to the audiobook ( which was read by Lerelei King, who was amazing! ) and just carry the book around to see which page I was on, because it's always much more fun that way.

In Third Grave Dead Ahead, we continue where we left off, at least a few weeks ahead of where we left off in the second book, Second Grave on the Left. Charley reintroduces herself and of course everything else she has names for, Danger and Will Robinson (her boobs), Misery (her jeep) and many more. I genuinely like that she reintroduces herself because like the way she says it all. It's so casual and random and for some reason it just cracks me up.

About 20 pages into the book, I started to burst out into laughter. This book is hilarious. It brought on so many giggles that the people around me would question if I was insane.

Seriously though, people should get over it and just put two and two together; person with book + laughing = something in the book was funny.

Yes the book was hilarious because of Charley's dialogue. She is just so random and when she would just burst out an epiphany in a slightly serious situation just get's the better of me.

How the storyline is growing with every page, everything in Charley's life gets more and more serious, she needs to figure out more about who she is as a grim reaper, but to me it seems like Charley doesn't care as much. And Reyes, despite how hot or Godlike he may be, he just pisses me off sometimes. This is the book where he's a complete asshole. Why!?

Anger towards him aside, I hope that everything works out for both Charley and God Reyes. I know there will be plates shattered, sharp comebacks, make up sex involved, which is the best part of how it will all work out if you know what I mean.

I am all in for attacking that fourth book pretty soon. It is a recommended series if you're into all that mystery, and funny, quirky characters with slight romance.
