Brightening Your Dark Mood

One of the fastest way to brighten up your bad mood is to brighten up someone else's. Make someone else feel good and the good vibrancy will flow right through you in return. It's an amazing phenomenon that feels almost addictive.

Something out of the blue happened a few weeks back. As my day went on as usual with many toastmaster meetings, outfit shoot's, and design work, I receive a message from a friend whom I've know for just a year. It was a voice note that melted my heart with kind words, enormous gratitude, and pure love. That message made my week a brighter one. It filled me with joy for as long as I can remember; and in fact, just thinking about it now just made the euphoria come fluttering back.

First Blogoversary that Flies

First off, yes I do kind of look like a balloon with my outfit. In fairness, this top is super-duper loose and it was slightly windy so I felt like letting it flow in the wind a bit more and necessary. Plus in the middle of the day I ended up knotting up the last two buttons like I usually do.

Secondly, what is up with that title? "First Blogoversary that Flies" That sounds more like I went skydiving for my blog. Which I didn't. That would be awesome though. What do you all think? Skydiving for a blogoversary.

Third, what type of blogger forgets about her blogoversary? A busy one? I'd like to say a busy one, but I think that's just a stupid excuse to completely forget about a blogoversary. Of course, blogoversaries doesn't have to be a big thing, it's just a milestone. A milestone that marks a whole year of writing, styling, and reminiscing on the good. 

This past year of blogging has become my escape, my sanctuary, a platform I can turn to when shit goes down. It hasn't only kept me sane this past year, but also these other bloggers such as The Silver Kick Dairies, The Adored Life, Delightfully Tacky, and Mini Penny, were a huge part of what got me through 2014. They gave me and continue to give the motivation and inspiration to follow the love and keep smiling.

 

So I followed the love and when I found it, I tried my best to catch up. But when I finally got close enough to feel those powerful feelings radiating off that love. The feeling lingers and this gives us a chance to relish on it and spread that power like a wildfire across oceans and through the wind. 

I bought clothes that made me feel good, read things that made me feel fantastic, did things that got me excited, and hung out with people who make me laugh and allow me to say my piece. I've gone to events and introduced myself as a blogger. I've met people and told them I was passionate about blogging because it made me feel real, and let my love flow through my system for a bit longer before I let it out into the world to prosper. Greedy, I know.

Love surrounds us. We just need to lay back, close our eyes, and allow yourself to feel it. 

It's been a year of Nada Más Que Amor and it was a great one. May year two be filled with as many and much more outfit posts, book posts, food posts, inspirations, quarterly event experiences, and love. Let the love fly high.

Get Back in The Game with Green Plaid

These things happen all the time, don't they. One day we get things going and they go on so smoothly for a while, but there is that one thing that just turns things to complete shit. And it's not just that one thing, it could be two or more things, or it could be nothing at all. There are times when you just feel like absolute shit and you don't even know why. And it's all the matter strength and perseverance of the person to pull through and get back in the game. 

And that's what I've been trying to do. Get back in the game. In the game of blogging, in the game of writing, in the game of art and yoga, and in the game of life. All I've been doing for the past week is working on keeping myself busy. Why am I doing this to myself, I don't really know. It just happened. And I feel like I haven't had a proper night's sleep and proper lunch in a month. Is this what it's like being an adult? Busy? Restless? Exhausted? Drained? 

On the day I wore this outfit, I felt fabulous. That day I sat by the sea with my cousin for about an hour in the noon time; it's a miracle we didn't get sunkissed, and that was the day we randomly decided to buy flowers.

"Do you want to get flowers?" "Sure, let's get some flowers" That was basically how it went down. It's rare for us both to randomly do things impulsively together, and when we do come around to doing something impulsive, it feels amazing. It makes us – or me – feel alive and free. Perhaps buying those flowers were our way to get back in the game of life by watching it grow from a tiny bud to a gorgeous yellow flower.

I came to realize that it's okay to get off the horse once in a while. We all need to go into little slumps and feel like crap every now and then. I like to take it as a form of recharging. 

And once our batteries are full, it's time to get back in the game – with or without some plaid.

DIY: Flower Crown

With a little more wire left over from the DIY candle lanterns we made for my sisters bridal shower, I gasped at my epiphany and realization that I had enough wire to make flower crowns. After I hunted down whatever supplies I could get my hands on, I began constructing my first flower crown as a trial with the intention of making the next crown I do into a DIY post. So here it is! Whoop!

What you'll need:

• Green tape
• Wire 
• Green wires
• Pliers
• Fake flowers

PROCEDURE

1. Measure your head by wrapping the wire you're going to use as your base, around your head once. Then mark it by bending the wire just a little.

 

2. Wrap the wire around two or more times. Then make a twist to secure the circular base. 

 

3. Next, take your green tape and wrap it around the wire base. 

I went on pinterest to see how others constructed their flower crowns and noticed that they all used garden/floral tape to wrap around the wire. After going to most of the garden shops, grocery stores, and stationaries I could find, I now know that this country does not supply it's locals with garden/floral tape. :(

4. Now arrange the flowers in the order you want them to be in. 

5. Now take your first flower and begin wrapping the green wire around it to secure it on the base.  

 

6. Continue wrapping until it's time to place the next flower. This step is mostly on your own estimation on where you decide to place the flowers. 

7. Continue on until you decide to stop. I stopped half way, covering only one side of the base. 

 

8. Once you're done wrapping the wire around. Wrap the green tape over the wire to secure further. 

9. And that's one side done!

 

10. Do the same thing on the other side. Wrap, secure, wrap some more, then double secure it with tape. 

* For those of you having a hard time figuring out how to hide the wire that's sticking out. Just slip it into the space between the wires and flower stems. Then you can just wrap the entire crown with green tape to hide the wires. *

And you're done! I took about an hour or so to make one and to properly secure the flowers and leaves onto the crown. If you're having a hard time, don't fret, ask someone for help.

Summer time madness with floral

This post was supposed to be called "Spring time madness" but the weather suddenly changed - again, and now it's hot, kind of. Bahrain doesn't have spring, it only has the following: summer, scotching hot summer, winter, and frostbite winter, oh and random sandstorms or rain every now and then. So yay for that. Now the county is on the summer phase of the weather cycle in a desert. 

I persuaded my brother to come and take photos with/of me this time. I thought it would be fun to add him into the frame. 

Since I'm trying to save up for my trips to Oman and Florida later this summer, I haven't settled down to having a budget every month. I've bought what needs to be bought and gawked over the things that I can't seem to afford, but the term budget doesn't seem to dangle on top of the price tags when I see thing's I can't afford.

But nonetheless, I've settled on buying ONE simple summer dress that has the usual A-line cut that seems to flatter my body. Tip of the day: Wear the type of clothes that flatter your body type, and you'll INSTANTLY feel good about yourself. And this dress did it for me, though, I would love it a lot more if it were a V-neck. My ladies were feeling a little bit restrained and needed a bit of air, poor things.

When I walked into Forever 21 the day I bought the dress; which was quite recently actually, everything was so floral. Literally. All the floral tops, dresses, and pastel everything. Oh and crop tops. I don't know if they have it on your side of the world but is it me or has F21 gone and chopped off all their basic tee's and decide to sell them for a lot more that they should for a small shirt. There were crop tops every where in the store and don't get me wrong, I enjoy dressing up dresses and skirts with my crop tops, and I know that it's a trend, but go easy on it F21, people might think it's a children store.
