Back in the Groove

June 21, 2017

You know those times when you need to do something and throughout the day you forget about it but when you go to sleep that night, you suddenly remember? So, you make a note to do it tomorrow morning or that afternoon, then you forget again, and the cycle goes on and on and on.

Sad to say, that's what was going on over here. Every time I remember about writing a blog post, the feeling of guilt would washed over me and I would force myself to sit in front of this empty New Post page on Blogger. And just like that page, I was blank. I would type up a line or two but it wouldn't feel right. I didn't know which angle to take or what I wanted to say.

3 Reasons to Love Floral

September 5, 2016

Do you get that feeling when you know that you have a whole bunch of something, and when you think about it, you really don't? As I was looking through my closet, I realized that I don't have as many floral blouses as I thought I did. How odd is that? It's been what? Almost 3 or 4 years since my love for floral patterns was unleashed that I didn't even notice half of my wardrobe is a mix and match of everything. But that thought doesn't diminish my love for it. I still feel that fire burn taller whenever I spot that one floral skirt in between all those other zigzag, polka dots, and tribal patterns. I see you.

What you Wanted still is What you Want

May 30, 2016

When I graduated from High School about 7 maybe 8 years back, the two things I wanted to be was a Chef or a Journalist. I remember the feeling of being in my culinary bubble and always turning to the kitchen to bake whenever I was feeling lost. It was peaceful. Of course, things happen and my peace turned to yoga and to writing. It's unavoidable, we grow.

After spending years in University studying your butt off to eventually get a good paying job with benefits, and after living with a job for a few years, there comes a time when you think about what you used to want to do and be. The feeling of nostalgia rushes through you like flames and you discover that what you wanted still is what want. The question here now is; what's stopping you from going towards what you want?

Deviant Art and Floral Pictureque

May 22, 2015

I've been taking photos since I got my first actual camera is 2007. It was one of those small digital cameras that never really had a proper lens which made it impossible to manually focus on anything. Nonetheless, I did enjoy my previous two digital cameras before the Nikon DSLR came long – which isn't even mine.

It was Deviant Art (dA) that got me into taking photos of flowers, the sky, etc. My sisters and I were obsessed with dA back then. Those were the days when the internet was taking over our lives. And our transition from going outside and playing with water balloons to constantly facing a screen involved taking photos, editing them on photoshop CS3, and posting them up on dA.

The artists who would spend hours digitally painting a Harry Potter character or Photo Manipulating a fantasy world was what inspired me to find my own creativity and contribute my work to the website. I went from traditional artwork to comics to photo manips and then finally becoming a nature photographer – I've always loved that title even if I'm not a certified photographer, but who needs to be one these days anyway.

I thought I'd share some of my work from this little hobby of mine. Like how I get with blogging and reading other blogs, I got a sense of peace whenever I take and edit photos like these. It gets me in the zone if you know what I mean. Perhaps these photos of flowers were the start of my floral obsession.

I still can't believe it's almost been 10 years since I joined that Deviant Art and I still can't believe that I would have the drive to post up something new at least once or twice every year.

Snap a photo of a little piece of nature you come across today. The sky, the sun, a rock, a flower, a leaf, and maybe even grass. Snapchat it, facebook it, instagram it, tweet it, do it all. Y'all can use the hashtag #lovefornature and let's see how much love we can spread.

Have an awesome day!

Those Floral Leggings

May 4, 2015

From galaxy leggings to floral ones. Oh, I think I'm in love.

It's not just the pattern that make my eyes ogle out of my eye holes like a cartoon character, but also the fact that these leggings are super comfy that I have this urge to wear them every single day but I don't because that'll be gross.

I bought these pants not knowing what I could pair it with. I basically bought it because I thought the pattern looked pretty. Thankfully, I packed this plain baby pink tee with me to the Philippines. Phew. Though my choice in shoes could've been better. These sneakers are the comfiest shoes I own, they've gone through hell with me and they still look brand new, but I do wish I had them in a different color.

I made my best friend, Michelle, snap some outfit photos for me while I stayed in the Philippines, and I'm not sure if it's just the golden hour or her camera that made these photos look gorgeous.

What are your thoughts on patterned leggings?

Freedom to Wear Shorts and a Tank

April 29, 2015

One of the things I highly abuse whenever I travel is the use of the excuse that I'm not from that particular country, to wear whatever I want – mostly shorts and a tank.

Living in a middle eastern country, wearing such revealing clothing can cause bad, sinful, and thoughts of envy to the one looking; more like staring, at you. Just like where I currently reside, Bahrain, the people stare like a hungry person eyeing the cheese balls. And it isn't the usual 3-second glance, nope. These people will stare for a good minute or more before looking away. It really makes one quite uncomfortable. And this happens when I wear my usual jeans, shirt, and cardigan.

This brings me to the urges to finally bring out those shorts and that new tank top that I've been hiding in my closet for a good six months, whenever I travel because people tend to stare less everywhere else around the world.

These photos were taken in front of the Mind Museum in Manila, Philippines. There was a group of people waiting in line to get into the museum while I was taking these photos, and yes, they were staring. But, not as much as they would in Bahrain.

Fabulous Blues and Florals

April 13, 2015

This weekend has been filled with many concerts and events. Okay, fine. Not that many. Maybe just a couple. But I swayed, jumped around, and whipped my hair back and forth just like what a regular 21-year-old is supposed to be doing. It was a pretty awesome weekend and I'm so grateful that I spent it with a bunch of amazing people.

For the past couple of days, I wanted to dress in something comfortable but fabulous. I felt like wearing a dress, but I wanted to change up my usual blue dress into something a little flowy and free to help me deal with this exciting weekend. So I put a floral tank top over this dress, tied the knot like I usually do and BOOM!

This look was something I threw on at 7am in the morning for breakfast with a bunch of toastmasters. To be honest, I literally got up and contemplated what I should wear for the day while I was in the shower. Spent an extra 10 minutes in there to finally decide.

Does it look a little sloppy? Yeah, kind of.
Did I go out like this? Yes, I did, and I felt FABULOUS!

On the side note, I will be traveling to the Philippines for a while and the one thing I'm most excited about is taking outfit photos with a completely different environment, and wearing shorts. The next few posts will of my adventures.

What was everyone up to this week?
Enjoying Coachella?

Blow out the Candles

April 6, 2015

This is the second time in a row that I had a Birthday Brunch. Last year, my toastmaster friends and loving family threw me surprise brunch. With the gifts, the cake, and the shouting "SURPRISE" in the middle of a mall. Embarrassing I know.

This year, I wanted something small. So we went to have brunch a day before my birthday – April 3rd – with my close family and friends. It was a very small and intimate. There were no outcasts, everyone was involved in the conversation, and it was light, fun, and exactly what I wanted. We laughed, ate until our bellies were bloated, took these outfit photos, enjoyed the weather, and blew out the candles. It was pure perfection!

So on the actual day of my birthday, I spent it at a hotel watching my brother graduate from High School and running around that same hotel trying to organize and get everything ready for a Toastmasters Contest later that evening.

How convenient was it to have these two events happen at the same hotel right after each other?

I raise my grande decaf skinny hazelnut latte to finally being 21 years of age. *sips coffee*

How did everyone's week go?

Just You: Sarah Barcelona

November 19, 2014
Just You, is a little project where a bunch of my favorite people with awesome styles get featured on this platform of mine. This is a week long project that will go on until Friday, 21st November.
The awesome people being featured were asked to style an outfit that makes them feel good and confident about being themselves, and in their own skin. They are to style an outfit that screams out THEM!
Sarah (Sasha) is one my best of friends. We've known each other since high school but only became close when we went to uni together. Her style is the perky/sporty kind. Sometime she'll dress in a flora dress with high pumps, and other times she'll dress in some jeans and a sporty top with a long necklace. I love this floral dress on her, it fits perfectly around her pearl shaped bod.

The thought of having her photos on my blog, got her a little camera shy, so her features will have to stay hidden for now.

Give it up for Sasha!

I’m just a simple lady with a simple taste who began to appreciate a flowery dress.  As you can see I do not wear too much accessories, one necklace is enough. It turns out to be pretty after all.

An adaptation to minimalism does not make your outfit boring after all. The little things you add makes it prettier.

“Simplicity is beauty”

I really want to thank my dearest friend Nada for giving me such a good opportunity to share with you a part of me through fashion in her blog.

All the best for your blog posts and God bless you.  =D

She's right, simplicity is beauty.

Have a wonderful day everyone!
