Unicorn Bound

November 30, 2015

It's all about the magic. The rainbows, golden sparkles, and wishes that come true.

I know Halloween was weeks ago, but with my sisters Halloween themed Birthday Party last week, we were all required to dress up and I was looking for a good opportunity to bring out my Unicorn Onesie. I didn't dress up this Halloween; I spent the day attending Toastmaster meetings like every weekend. Sigh.

But all is well. This onesie was comfy, warm, and cozy. Leaving a rainbow trail with every step I make, and bringing joy to the people around me with my pink cuteness. I felt super adorable and magical in it.

There is this quote that says "Always be yourself unless you're a unicorn, then always be a unicorn." If you feel like a magical unicorn today, then be that magical unicorn and spread those rainbows.

If you had an animal onesie, what would it be?
Stay magical y'all!

Accept your Brightest Colors

November 23, 2015

When you come out and realize that the decision you made is something you regret. That the choice of leaving instead of staying is something you regret. That the option to not submit the full paperwork is something you regret. That the judgment of choosing one instead of the other is something you regret. Feeling that guilt get bottled up inside for days, rethinking every bit of the scenario and repeating the words, "I shouldn't have done that."

We're human. We make mistakes and regret the choices that we end up taking. So it's okay. It's okay to feel regret once in a while. That just proves that we are still human when we feel some sort of negative emotion instead of positive ones.

There was a time this week when I realized that regret wasn't a thing I felt often. It was a while since we last met, and it felt weird. I was under this negative cloud that made my judgments and further decisions throughout the week something I regretted even more–talk about adding to the pile of negativity.

But I just sat there and accepted my regrets and bad decisions. Instead of pushing them away and asking myself, "Why did I do it this way? Why didn't I do it that way?" I just said, "I did it. It happened. It's okay." And one morning I awoke and went through my day until I realized that the heavy guilty feeling wasn't there. It disappeared into the abyss.

Accept your negative feelings when they come out, and do what they say, "ride the wave." Having negative emotions prove that we can't always be positive, and accepting these emotions prove that it's okay to sit and sulk for a bit until your light comes back to shine even brighter.

I dare y'all to wear a the brightest color you have in your wardrobe, and rock it!
You'll feel ridiculous, yes, but trust me, it'll be worth feeling silly.

Styling a Sweater and a Button Up this Winter

November 16, 2015

Winter breezes have finally arrived east and the need to switch on the AC every time I walk in a room has been dispatched. The first day out and about with the winter breeze blowing, it was time to whip out my old sweaters. Layering it on top of one of my favorite summer staples; my floral button up shirt, olive green jeans, and of course, floral shoes. Now that's what I call Earth Toned.

It's has a very laid back and casual feel to it. Since I didn't button up all the way with the sweater being quite loose on the collar, I left a few buttons free and added a tiny necklace to show off my neckline.

All I'm excited about this winter are the twinklings lights, cozy sweaters, and Starbucks' Toffee Nut Latte–which I'm still waiting on by the way. What're you excited about this winter?

Enjoy the winter breezes and keep those smiles bright!

Breakfast at The Orangery, Tearoom and Pâtisserie

November 9, 2015

A large enough English-inspired restaurant that is able to be hidden in the shadows. The Orangery, Tearoom and Pâtisserie is a classy, antique pâtisserie with a splash Middle Eastern culture.

Upon entering the restaurant, we were hastily greeted by a waiter who offered us a table either inside or outside. Inside of the pâtisserie looked sweet, elegant, and quite spacious, but since the weather that morning was breezy and cool; Autumn feels and all, we opt for a table outside in their garden. It was quite a beautiful place. It looked almost like a backyard of a mansion with fountains, trees, and statues.

After scanning through their breakfast menu, I found that they didn't have much variety of breakfasts. It was mostly pastry–of course, it's a pâtisserie–so if you're looking for meat for breakfast, I'd opt for Fuddruckers or iHOP breakfasts. I ordered a Hazelnut Latte to get me started, and later their Belgian Waffles that was topped with strawberries, icing sugar, and cream and maple syrup on the side

Hazelnut Latte tasted no different than the regular latte's with hazelnut syrup out there. The blend between hazelnut and the coffee, to me, was perfect. The hazelnut wasn't too strong that it overlaps the coffee, nor was it too lacking. It was a pretty good blend that was doable.

Texture and flavor wise of the waffle is crunchy on the outer layer and not too sweet; the fresh strawberries provided that extra sweetness to it. That large waffle is enough for one person with a small stomach like me, but if you need a little extra, then the Oriental Breakfast or the Orangery Breakfast would be perfect.

If you're looking for the perfect pastry and fruit-based breakfast then Orangery Pâtisserie is the perfect place for you. Although, I must warn you that they are quite pricey. The Belgian Waffles alone was about BD 6.000, and the Hazelnut Latte was around BD3.000. While the Oriental and Orangery Breakfast went up to BD 13.000, but this breakfast is good enough for two guests.

Three and a half flowers for The Orangery, Tearoom and Pâtisserie, because of its English-inspired classy look, exquisite looking cakes, delicious pastries, but also for its pricey and inadequate menu.

They are located in the vicinity of The Palace Boutique Hotel, Adliya.

What's on your Year-End Goals List?

November 3, 2015

Ladies and gents, there are just two months left until the year finally ends. So what does everyone have planned for these two months? Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas Shopping, Christmas Parties, New Years resolutions?

Alright, I know I've been MIA from the blog for a while, the reasons are well, when it comes to blogging, I don't want to just write useless content and post it up for the sake of posting. I realized that I want my content to be useful and inspiring, and fun, rather than mindless. Hence, my reasons for not posting was due to the fact that the right topic had yet to be found, until now.

Year-End Goals (a.k.a November - December Goals)

I've seen one of my favorite bloggers, Nicole from Writes Like a Girl, do monthly goals posts every month for the entire year. And as I was scrolling through my Bloglovin' feed, I stumbled upon her November goals and then it hit me. Since I've been quite disoriented lately with trying to keep my life in check, a list of firm short-term goals could be a perfect makeshift backbone.

Come and join in on it! If you feel like you need a little balance in your life, perhaps a list of short-term goals could do the trick. Let's get started, shall we?

1. Finish 5 books before the year end's. I've been on a reading slump recently, and way off my Goodreads goal of 40 books in a year, so let's see if I'll find that book to keep my eyes glued to the pages for days.

2. Go for a run. With the weather cooling up a bit, it seems perfect to get bundled up and go for a good run. Even if it's just for 30 minutes.

3. Deliver two more speeches in my Toastmasters club before the year ends. I started delivering more speeches to try and finish off the manual Toastmasters International gave us. I have about six more speeches to deliver before I get the title "Advanced Communicator Bronze". Before the year ends, let's see if I'll be able to deliver two more.

4. Sketch a portrait. I bought a new sketchbook when I went to Dubai recently, and it's been eyeing me to start sketching. The images of sketching a portrait of some kind have been gushing in and out of my mind, it'll be good to finally let it out on paper.

5. Take more outfit photo's. I have a few new pieces that I want to mix and match, and show off on the blog. Plus, I hope this will get me to dress in something besides my leggings and a shirt all day.

Those are my short-term goals for the next two months. What's on your short-term goals list? You can go over on Nicole's blog, Writes Like a Girl and link it up. I honestly didn't know she did a link up until I scrolled down a few minutes ago.

If you already made your short-term goals, how are they going so far? Ticked most of them off yet? Don't worry if you didn't, there are still about two months until the year ends. There's no rush.

Stay fearless and amazing, my darlings.

PS. Although I haven't been posting on my blog, my facebook page is quite active with articles and quotes, to keep you going and that fierceness flowing.
