Blogmas 2014

November 30, 2014
Sooo...it's December 1st tomorrow. How is everyone feeling about the end of the year coming up? I still can't believe it's almost 2015. Darn, where did the time go?

While I was scrolling through tumblr this morning – which has recently been apart of my morning routine – I found this word. Blogmas. I know what Vlogmas is, but Blogmas? I just laughed and said YES! Totally! It sounds super fun so I'll do it. I've always enjoyed watching Youtubers do vlogmas, they get so festive with their outfits, jobs, music, etc. Blogmas would be something similar.

For those who are unfamiliar with these terms. Blogmas is when bloggers post Christmas or winter related posts every single day until Christmas day. Vlogmas is the exact same thing but for Youtubers – so it's videos instead of text.

What to expect from this years Blogmas?

I won't be giving it all away, I want to surprise ya'll, but I will be doing some DIYs, fun book posts, fashion, and perhaps food? We'll see.

Until tomorrow folks!
Have a lovely day! :)

Chairish's Vintage

November 28, 2014
I've recently gotten back into polyvore. It's such a fun website for styling random outfits and designing rooms. One can spend hoooours on there just clicking the next button on the jewelry tab, while trying to find the right necklace to go with the Christmas outfit you just picked out.

I know Christmas isn't until 26 days – who's counting anyways – but I just get too excited with the Christmas colors, decorations and the lights – especially the lights, I mean do you see all those bright flashing colors? Doesn't it make you feel all jolly inside?

Anyways, I decided to get an early start on my Christmas party outfit. Having bought a maroon midi skirt a few weeks back – I haven't worn it yet by the way, I'm still waiting for the right moment to bring it out into the world – I thought it was the perfect skirt to wear to a Christmas party. It's not too short, not too long, and the maroon color can have a Christmasy feel to it.

Christmas Party Outfit

I paired the skirt with a green sweater and some ankle strap pumps. And of course some statement jewelry from Chairish's new vintage items to brighten up the entire outfit. I genuinely adore the ruby earrings, they are absolutely gorgeous. And the blue velvet bag, also from Chairish, that looks so soft and perfect for the wintery christmasy feel, don't you all think? I adore it.

Check out Chairish's Vintage items. Some of their stuff are to die for!
Have you all thought about your Christmas party outfit yet?
 Have a jolly day everyone!

All Blue and a Messy Bun

November 26, 2014

Has this top appeared on my blog already? Oh yea, on my first day in Orlando, FL – fun times, fun times – but have I ever paired it with jeans before? I can't keep track of the outfits I post on here. I feel like I'm in a style-bump. My styling senses feel like it ran out of juice. I look at my closet and see nothing that's wearable. Plus the indecisive weather isn't helping either. Rain, sunny, windy, cloudy, rain, cloudy, sunny. DECIDE!

But! Since it's been raining, it gave me an excuse to whip out my combat boots, so I can "walk on and/or over puddles".

Toastmaster speech competitions are next Wednesday and I'm freaking out a bit because I only just wrote my speech and I don't think it's funny enough for a humorous speech contest. This year I am going to try and place in at least one of the competitions. The past couple of years, I never actually tried to win because I believed that I couldn't. There were always people who were better than me so I just let them win. But this year, I'm going to try.

Oh, my glasses are missing. Right. Contact lenses. I just got them so I'm giving it a go – after so long. I've had contacts before but I was never comfortable with them so I stuck with glasses. But since these current contacts are specially made for my eyes only, it's worth a try. :)

How is everyones week going so far?

Book Review: The Trouble with Flying by Rachel Morgan

November 24, 2014

The Trouble with Flying by Rachel Morgan
Genre: New Adult, Romance
Series: The Trouble (#1)
Synopsis

When nineteen-year-old introvert Sarah boards a plane to fly home after an overseas holiday, the last thing she expects is Aiden, the guy sitting next to her who’s never flown anywhere before and refuses to shut up. Hours of random conversation later, they part ways. Sarah can’t stop thinking about Aiden, though, and wondering if she made a terrible mistake letting him go.

Should she abandon her safe, predictable life and go in search of him, or would she be chasing a happily ever after that could never exist in real life?
Goodreads | Amazon

Review

The trouble with flying is simple, sweet, funny, and engrossing. I loved it.

At first, I thought the setting of the entire book would be on a plane or at an airport, but I liked how it wasn't. I liked how the storyline moved passed the plane ride and onto everyday life.

I found it quite relatable when it came to over thinking about boys, about the last thing you said to them, about what just happened, then eventually concluding to the idea that you're not good enough for them, or they don't see you that way. Sarah and I have that in common, so whenever something similar would pop up, I'd just be nodding my head over and over in agreement "Yes, that's exactly how I feel."

But one thing that I didn't enjoy was how Sarah has so much low self-esteem and self-confidence in herself. "I'll never be brave enough to do this..." "I'll never be brave enough to do that..." There were times in the book when I wanted to literally slap some confidence into her. I know it's mean but my aggressiveness took over a little bit.

Aiden on the other hand...whoop. He's just sexy as hell. He's the type of fictional boyfriend every woman wants but can't seem to find. A man who knows from the beginning that you're their one and only. A man who brings out the best in you. A man who gets you. He's perfection – despite minor relationship status' that got dissolved later on.

The trouble with flying is definitely a recommendation. I recommend it to all the lovely ladies out there who crave for a nice, sweet,  and easy "finding yourself" romance novel. Although, as much as I would love to give this book 5 stars, the way Sarah puts herself down all the time just brings the whole book down with her.

This book is pretty great nonetheless.

Weather Talk in Emerald Green

I hope you all enjoyed the Just You features last week, I sure did. It's inspiring to see people dressing like themselves instead of going all out sometimes.

We went camping a last weekend – or more like BBQ-ing, running around in boots, playing games, and gossiping, with no sleeping under the stars – for my sisters birthday. It was a surprise that we planned a month back and I have to say, it turned out quite well. Everyone seemed to have a good time.

The weather wasn't as cold as we expected. I brought my flannel, a hoodie, a scarf and a beanie with me to the campsite hoping it would be freezing, but it was relatively cool. Roaming around in my glow in the dark ghost busters tee and green flannel was enough.

How was everyone's weekend?

I took these photos with the hopes of getting some clouds to slide into the shot – since it was relatively cloudy today after the rain last night, and the iPhone weather app says that there would be a thunderstorm. The thunderstorm was a lie. LIEEE. I heard no thunder! Darn you weather app, why don't you ever tell me the truth?

So the weather today was cloudy, windy, cool, but not COLD. Bahrain and her residence are still waiting on the 18 degrees rainy days to swing by for a visit. Nonetheless, the weather is relatively fine and perfect for long walks by the beach – or sidewalk, or park, or around your house. And of course fine enough to go out in just a short sleeve and a scarf.

Just You: Sawsan Abdulla

November 21, 2014
Just You, is a little project where a bunch of my favorite people with awesome styles get featured on this platform of mine. This is a week long project that will go on until Friday, 21st November.
The awesome people being featured were asked to style an outfit that makes them feel good and confident about being themselves, and in their own skin. They are to style an outfit that screams out THEM!
Sawsan Abdulla, Yasmeen's younger sister. The two have very different styles. As I said before, Yasmeen is quite elegant when it comes to styling clothes, while Sawsan, she's a lot more grungy, dark, and hipster-ish. She may have multiple personalities inside that mind of hers, but she embraces her dark and grungy side and when it comes to styling clothes – which I just love and hate sometimes. Sawsan, is the reason why I sometimes dress a little grungy-ish. She brings out the dark side of my style.

This outfit Sawsan picked out for this shoot just screams her. Whenever we would hang out she would always find a way to pair a kimono and a choker with the outfit. Chokers may seem like it's so 90's but seriously, it seems to really suit her. Not many people can pull off a choker and not look like they just stepped out of a 90's film. Sawsan pulls it off really well, and it looks good.

This kind of outfit is the perfect piece for transitioning to fall, when the weather isn't too cold yet, but getting there – like Bahrain. The crochet back of the kimono gives out the boho feel, which also allows some cool air to seep through the back during a hot summer day. It's definitely one of my favorite pieces about this entire outfit.

The entire outfit is amazing. It literally screams her. Kimono, boots, red lips, and choker, brings out the grungy witchy side she has in her that everyone secretly admires.

I definitely love it.

This is the last of the Just You posts. Hope you all enjoyed. Let me know if you would like to see something similar to this on my future posts. It was super fun to host.

Thank you to everyone who helped out and contributed. Y'all are awesome! *virtual hugs to all of you*

Have a wonderful day!!

I love tunics and scarfs and in India that is the most common style of dressing you will see. I chose this outfit because it just screams me. I feel super comfortable in this outfit. This has always been my go to outfit when I am confused. This is something my readers do not know about me. I am that kind that has to be comfortable in my clothes at least in my everyday life and I believe that being happy and free is the way to live no matter what others think!

She's right. Being happy and free is the way to live. It will definitely get you through hard times.
Do you all agree?

Just You: Sarah Barcelona

November 19, 2014
Just You, is a little project where a bunch of my favorite people with awesome styles get featured on this platform of mine. This is a week long project that will go on until Friday, 21st November.
The awesome people being featured were asked to style an outfit that makes them feel good and confident about being themselves, and in their own skin. They are to style an outfit that screams out THEM!
Sarah (Sasha) is one my best of friends. We've known each other since high school but only became close when we went to uni together. Her style is the perky/sporty kind. Sometime she'll dress in a flora dress with high pumps, and other times she'll dress in some jeans and a sporty top with a long necklace. I love this floral dress on her, it fits perfectly around her pearl shaped bod.

The thought of having her photos on my blog, got her a little camera shy, so her features will have to stay hidden for now.

Give it up for Sasha!

I’m just a simple lady with a simple taste who began to appreciate a flowery dress.  As you can see I do not wear too much accessories, one necklace is enough. It turns out to be pretty after all.

An adaptation to minimalism does not make your outfit boring after all. The little things you add makes it prettier.

“Simplicity is beauty”

I really want to thank my dearest friend Nada for giving me such a good opportunity to share with you a part of me through fashion in her blog.

All the best for your blog posts and God bless you.  =D
